Women of Purpose and Determination began in January 2006 under the leadership of Annette Jones Davidson of Columbia South Carolina.

Upon realizing the many gifts and abilities of many within the Webster/Minden High School Class of 1975, Mrs. Davidson asked several women to come together to form the support group that would allow us to grow intellectually, spiritually, physically, mentally and socially. Understanding the power in sharing and caring for one another, the support group would expand to include other women within the community to inspire, encourage, educate and assist in helping each other to be the best we could be.

Through workshops, conferences, book reviews, bible readings, as well as other activities, a forum was created that allow women to bond with other women; to express themselves freely; to learn practical action steps to take to help each maximize her potential.

Women of Purpose and Determination is home based in Minden, Louisiana with plans of chapters being formed in other cities and states.

The core members are Annette Jones Davidson, Jackie Walker Graham Chapman (TX), Marzetta Wright Murray (TX), Rose Thornton Jiles (MS), Regina G. Mixon (CA), Audrey Reed Flournoy, Jackie Lewis Rice, Cynthia Lewis Combs, Beverly Kennon, Gloria Morris (all of Minden, LA), Loretta Giles of Shreveport LA and Barbara Johnson Smith of Japan.
