About Emily Mixon

Emily Mixon

A famous modern dancer and choreographer, Martha Graham, once said, “Dance is the hidden language of the soul of the body.”  And, Emily Mixon shares that belief.  Grounded in faith and inspired by God, the young woman expresses her creativity and spirituality through her dance moves. As a former member of Here2Prayze liturgical dance ministry at her church, the 20 year old uses her arms and legs to gracefully interpret the traditional and contemporary gospel music to which she performs.  As a young person growing up in Minden, Louisiana, she developed an interest in arts education, partly, she says, to cope with the struggles of her early life.  While in school, she excelled in choir, dance and even played the drums.  After moving to Los Angeles in 2003, she attended and later graduated from Jordan High School.  While at Jordan, however, she made the decision to concentrate her artist pursuits on dancing, specifically modern dance and hip hop, with the hope of becoming a professional dancer   In addition to her dancing talents, Emily has joined fellow dance team members to co-author, “Life From a Teenager’s Perspective” (coming soon).  The book will be published by Regs Books. Active in her church, Emily believes that through her dance ministry, she can share with young people, the value of artist expression in coping with life’s obstacles.

About Robert Nubine
Robert NubineTo Robert Nubine, dance is a natural form of artistic expression. A native of Los Angeles, he grew up performing in dance halls alongside his mother, an “entertainment illusionist.”  While attending Gardena High School (from which he later graduated), he started the “Get Krump Crew,” a street dance team featuring free-style, high energy hip hop dance moves.   Robert says, “I am a versatile dancer.  In addition to hip hop, I love modern and jazz dance because of the way in which I am able to use my arms.”  His love for all types of dance led him to collaborate with four others to start “Hydration,” a dance crew with a fluid, jazzy flavor. A spiritually grounded person, Robert also uses his talents to share God’s message. As a former member of “Here2Prayze,” he interprets traditional and contemporary gospel music with his church’s liturgical dance ministry.  The 20 year old says that dance has served as a positive outlet of expression, which has enabled him to cope with difficult circumstances. These trials and tribulations as well as the resultant triumphs and hope form the bedrock of the testimony that he enjoys sharing with others.  Robert is also the co-author of “Life From a Teenager’s Perspective,” (Coming Soon) will be published by Regs Books -- and a singer, who has performed with choirs and vocal ensembles.  While this young man is multi-talented, he says that dance is his passion as well as his ministry.
